Simple Vellum and Patterned Paper Card

A clean and simple card using a painted mount from the collection, torn vellum layered across the bottom, and a fussy-cut fairy element with 3D wings. The torn vellum adds texture and the 3D fairy creates dimension and movement.

Step by step

  1. Fold a piece of patterned paper from the Misty Holo collection in half to create your card base. ▶ watch 1:08:00
  2. Score the fold with your hand or scoring tool to ensure a clean crease. ▶ watch 1:08:30
  3. Tear a piece of patterned vellum from the collection to create a textured strip. ▶ watch 1:09:00
  4. Wrap the torn vellum around the bottom portion of the card. ▶ watch 1:09:15
  5. Trim the vellum so it sits just above the bottom border of the card, revealing the craft-coloured card beneath. ▶ watch 1:09:30
  6. Glue the vellum in place on the card. ▶ watch 1:09:45
  7. Select a painted mount from the collection and glue it onto the card above the vellum. ▶ watch 1:10:00
  8. Fussy-cut a fairy image from the patterned paper, carefully cutting around the wings and body. ▶ watch 1:10:30
  9. Colour the white edge of the fussy-cut fairy with a black blending brush to hide the white card edge. ▶ watch 1:14:30
  10. Warm the fairy image slightly with your hand and gently curve the wings to add movement. ▶ watch 1:15:00
  11. Attach the fairy to the card using 3D foam pads so the wings sit proud above the vellum. ▶ watch 1:15:30
  12. Add a sentiment word or phrase to the card. ▶ watch 1:16:00
  13. Optional: add sparkles or glitter glue to the fairy's wings and hair for extra shimmer. ▶ watch 1:17:00
