Stencil Splat and Layering Technique Card

A colourful card demonstrating the use of multiple stencils with different ink colours to build a layered floral design. The technique shows how to layer stencils progressively, adding different colours at each stage to create depth and dimension.

Step by step

1. Line up stencil number one with the edge of your card stock. ▶ watch 48:45
2. Apply orange ink lightly through the first stencil using a brush. ▶ watch 49:00
3. Position stencil number two and apply the same orange colour. ▶ watch 49:30
4. Switch to a pink ink and apply through stencil number three. ▶ watch 50:00
5. Move to stencil number four and apply green ink. ▶ watch 52:15
6. Add a touch of teal or blue to the green areas for dimension. ▶ watch 53:00
7. Apply a darker purple to stencil number five at the top. ▶ watch 54:00
8. Remove all stencils carefully to reveal the layered design. ▶ watch 54:30
9. Die-cut your design using the coordinating die set. ▶ watch 57:00

Tips from the show

• There are no rules; do whatever colour combination you prefer.
• Light coverage works best when layering multiple stencils to avoid the design becoming too dark.
