Layering Stencil Classic Rose Card

Create a stunning large-headed rose using a four-layer stencil system. Build colour progressively to achieve realistic shading and dimension in a single floral design.

Step by step

  1. Prepare a card blank (cream or white) as your base. ▶ watch 48:45
  2. Select stencil number one and align it with the edge of your card, ensuring the number is facing you. ▶ watch 49:00
  3. Choose a dye-based ink colour (such as blue) and tap it lightly through the stencil using a sponge. ▶ watch 49:15
  4. Position stencil number two and apply the same colour with slightly more pressure to build depth. ▶ watch 49:45
  5. Apply stencil number three, pressing more firmly to darken the mid-tones of the rose. ▶ watch 50:15
  6. Position stencil number four and press firmly to create the darkest, most defined details of the petals. ▶ watch 50:45
  7. Add green colour to the leaves and stem area using the same stencil system if desired. ▶ watch 51:15
  8. Allow the card to dry completely. ▶ watch 51:45
  9. Optional: enhance the design by adding metallic wax or paste to selected areas for gilded highlights. ▶ watch 52:00
  10. Optional: spray lightly with water for an artistic, watercolour-like finish if desired. ▶ watch 52:30
