Simple Dog and Butterfly Card with Embossed Background

Create a clean, minimalist card featuring the dog and butterfly stamp with an embossed background. Add sparkle to the butterfly for a delicate finishing touch.

Step by step

1. Run white cardstock through your die-cutting machine with one of the 3D embossing folders to create a textured background. ▶ watch 47:30
2. Stamp the dog image onto white cardstock using black ink. ▶ watch 48:00
3. Stamp the butterfly image onto white cardstock using black ink. ▶ watch 48:30
4. Carefully cut out both the dog and butterfly images with scissors. ▶ watch 49:00
5. Pinch the butterfly wings gently to create dimension. ▶ watch 49:30
6. Stamp the sentiment 'Life is made of small moments like this' onto white cardstock using black ink. ▶ watch 50:15
7. Cut out the sentiment with scissors. ▶ watch 50:45
8. Glue the embossed background cardstock onto a card base. ▶ watch 51:00
9. Glue the dog image onto the card, positioning it to stand upright with slight dimension. ▶ watch 51:30
10. Glue the sentiment onto the card. ▶ watch 52:00
11. Apply clear sparkle glue all over the butterfly image to add shimmer. ▶ watch 52:30
12. Glue the sparkly butterfly onto the card near the sentiment. ▶ watch 53:00
13. Allow the clear sparkle glue to dry completely; it will dry clear and reveal the butterfly design with a sparkly finish. ▶ watch 53:30

Tips from the show

• Simple, clean card designs often look more effective than heavily detailed ones.
• Clear sparkle glue looks like a white mess when wet but dries clear, so do not worry about the appearance whilst it is drying.
• You do not have to add colour or dimension to stamped images; they look beautiful in black and white.
