Metallic Swiped Embossed Card

Create a sophisticated card by applying metallic confetti inks to white cardstock with a swiping technique, then emboss with the honeycomb folder for a luxurious metal-effect finish. The combination of shimmering inks and dimensional embossing creates an elegant, burnished appearance.

Step by step

1. Activate your confetti metallic inks with a little water using a cosmetic holder. ▶ watch 32:15
2. Use a brush to swipe the activated inks across white cardstock in downward strokes, layering different metallic colours. ▶ watch 32:30
3. Allow the inked cardstock to dry completely. ▶ watch 33:00
4. Place the inked cardstock into your embossing folder (honeycomb swirl works well). ▶ watch 33:15
5. Set up your die-cutting machine with the thick white plate as the base and your embossing folder on top. ▶ watch 36:30
6. Run the folder through the machine, applying steady pressure. ▶ watch 36:45
7. Remove the embossed card to reveal the dimensional honeycomb pattern over your metallic base. ▶ watch 37:00
8. Admire the raised texture catching the light against the shimmering ink background. ▶ watch 38:00

Tips from the show

• Confetti inks are versatile and can be used in many different techniques with embossing folders.
• The metallic effect works best when you layer multiple colours before embossing.
• Allow your inked cardstock to dry thoroughly before embossing to prevent smudging.
