Embossed Background Card with Stencilled Overlay

Create an elegant card by running the embossing folder through your machine without the die to produce a beautiful textured background, then layer it with stencilled metallic accents and die-cut embellishments for a sophisticated finished piece.

Step by step

1. Remove the die from the embossing folder and insert a piece of gold or coloured card stock. ▶ watch 29:15
2. Run the embossing folder through your die-cutting machine on the appropriate setting for your machine. ▶ watch 29:30
3. Remove the embossed card and admire the 3D detail on both the front and back. ▶ watch 29:45
4. Trim the embossed background to size and mount it onto a tent-fold card base. ▶ watch 30:00
5. Use a stencil with a metallic ink pad to add a leaf pattern across the background for texture. ▶ watch 30:30
6. Layer pre-coloured die-cut embellishments on top using foam tape for dimension. ▶ watch 31:00
7. Add a stamped sentiment and optional drop shadow to complete the card. ▶ watch 31:30

Tips from the show

• The embossed background alone is elegant enough to need only a sentiment to finish the card.
• You can use the embossing folder with or without the die to create different effects.
• The 3D detail shows beautifully on both the embossed and debossed sides of the card.
