Coloured Embossed Butterfly Card with Brushwork

A card embossed with a kaleidoscope butterfly pattern, then hand-coloured with soft green ink using a blending brush to add subtle colour to the embossed details.

Step by step

1. Place your card stock into the butterfly embossing folder. ▶ watch 40:15
2. Run it through your die-cutting machine to emboss the butterfly design. ▶ watch 40:30
3. Remove the card and select a soft green ink pad. ▶ watch 40:45
4. Using a soft blending brush, lightly brush the green ink over the embossed butterfly details with a gentle hand. ▶ watch 41:00
5. Blend the colour into the embossed areas to create a subtle, soft finish. ▶ watch 41:30
6. If desired, add additional colours to different areas of the design for more depth. ▶ watch 42:00

Tips from the show

• Use a very light hand when applying ink to embossed folders to keep the effect subtle and elegant.
• Soft blending brushes are ideal for getting colour into all the detailed areas of an embossing folder.
• You can use any colour you like; spring greens work beautifully for seasonal cards.
