Southern Magnolia Floral Card with Die-Cut Flowers

Create a beautiful floral card using pre-coloured die-cut magnolia flowers on coordinating double-sided cardstock. The flowers feature built-in shading and dimension, making it easy to achieve a professional look without colouring skills.

Step by step

1. Select your bright yellow coordinating paper from the Southern Magnolia pad and place it on your cutting mat. ▶ watch 49:15
2. Position the connected die plate onto the paper, checking that the design aligns properly on the double-sided cardstock. ▶ watch 50:00
3. If the design doesn't line up on one side, flip the cardstock over to use the reverse side, as the paper is double-sided with different colours. ▶ watch 50:15
4. Secure the die plate to the paper using tape or by holding it steady with your hands. ▶ watch 50:30
5. Run the paper and die plate through your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 51:00
6. Remove the cut pieces from the paper and observe the emboss detail in the leaves created by the die. ▶ watch 52:00
7. Pop out the individual flower pieces and leaves from the die-cut sheet. ▶ watch 52:45
8. Layer and offset the flowers on your card base, building your own unique bouquet arrangement. ▶ watch 53:00
9. Add the foliage elements between and around the flowers to complete the design. ▶ watch 53:15

Tips from the show

• The bleed around the edges helps with eye appeal and compensates for slight machine movement.
• You can twist and shape the flowers into different sizes and forms for variety.
• Use the stencil background created by the die on light pink cardstock for a coordinated background before layering flowers on top.
