Trendy Triangles Card with Drop Shadow Effect

Make a clean and simple card using the trendy triangles die, layered to create a striking drop shadow effect. The geometric triangles can look like mountains or pyramids depending on how you layer them.

Step by step

1. Cut the trendy triangles design from coloured card stock using your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 46:00
2. Tap out the die-cut design to release all the triangle elements. ▶ watch 46:15
3. Cut a second version of the triangles from black card stock. ▶ watch 46:30
4. Layer the coloured triangle piece on top of the black version, offsetting it slightly to create a drop shadow effect. ▶ watch 47:00
5. Glue the layered triangle design directly onto a grey card blank using tape or glue. ▶ watch 47:15
6. Position the design off to the side of the card rather than in the centre. ▶ watch 47:45
7. Trim away any excess that hangs off the edge of the card to make it flush with the side. ▶ watch 48:00
8. Add a washi tape sentiment such as 'Someone is thinking of you' to complete the card. ▶ watch 48:30
9. Optionally add sequins or sparkle to enhance the design further. ▶ watch 49:00

Tips from the show

• Layering the triangles the opposite way creates a totally different look, like mountains.
• The stitch detail runs all the way through the design, adding extra visual interest.
• This design works brilliantly for gents cards due to its geometric, tire-track-like appearance.
