Mixed Media Floral Heart Card with Fussy-Cut Elements

Create an artistic card combining die-cut hearts with fussy-cut flowers from patterned paper. The design features layered hearts with sentiment text and decorative florals for a pretty, garden-inspired look.

Step by step

1. Prepare a card base and layer patterned paper as your background. ▶ watch 46:00
2. Fussy-cut flower motifs from your patterned paper by carefully cutting around the design. ▶ watch 46:15
3. Arrange the fussy-cut flowers on your card base to create a focal point. ▶ watch 47:00
4. Cut the sentiment word (such as 'Faith') from white or contrasting card stock. ▶ watch 48:00
5. Cut the outline version of the sentiment as well for layering options. ▶ watch 48:30
6. Layer the sentiment pieces together to create dimension. ▶ watch 50:00
7. Position the layered sentiment over the fussy-cut flowers. ▶ watch 50:15
8. Glue all elements in place, building up the layers for a mixed media effect. ▶ watch 50:45
9. Add additional heart die-cuts or decorative elements to complete the design. ▶ watch 52:00

Tips from the show

• If you don't have flowers in your patterned paper, use complete heart shapes positioned to the side instead.
• Layer the sentiment multiple times to create depth and visual interest.
• This design works well as a larger card to accommodate all the fussy-cut elements.
