Step by step

  1. Stamp the girl character on copier paper to create a patsy (mask) for layering. ▶ watch 45:15
  2. Position the patsy on your card base and stamp the background scene (Eiffel Tower or Paris elements) over the top. ▶ watch 45:45
  3. Ensure you apply extra pressure around the edges of the patsy to avoid a halo effect. ▶ watch 46:15
  4. Remove the patsy carefully to reveal the seamlessly layered image. ▶ watch 46:45
  5. Colour the scene using watercolour or markers, starting with loose washes for the background. ▶ watch 47:30
  6. Add skin tones to the character using blended watercolour, rotating your brush to soak up colour rather than dabbing. ▶ watch 48:30
  7. Layer decorative paper behind your coloured image on vellum or cardstock. ▶ watch 49:30
  8. Add your chosen sentiment (take me to Paris, make a wish, or daydream) to complete the card. ▶ watch 50:30
