Birthday Celebration Card with Background Stamping

A festive birthday card that layers the presents stamp as a background with the birthday sentiment on top. This project shows how to combine stamps creatively and use watercolour to create an explosion of colour and celebration.

Step by step

1. Stamp the presents design on your card base as a background layer using black ink. ▶ watch 20:00
2. Create a watercolour wash background using dirty water and multiple colour tones for a vibrant effect. ▶ watch 20:30
3. Allow the watercolour to blend naturally across the card, creating tonal variation. ▶ watch 21:15
4. Stamp the adventure or additional design elements over the watercoloured background for layering. ▶ watch 22:00
5. Add the birthday sentiment in bubble font style to look like balloons floating above the presents. ▶ watch 22:45
6. Layer your finished design onto decorative paper or cardstock for a polished final card. ▶ watch 23:30
